Title: When the Sun rises

Artist: Fatimah Nadeem

Nature is beautiful, compelling and grand, and its instinct to survive is what inspires me to use organic elements to create vivid landscapes where nature thrives in bright colours.

In this noisy and dreary urban surrounding, I often tend to dream about escaping into a big unending forest, yearn to run through fields of tall flowers and to bask in soft sunlight and the quiet murmurs of nature. I want my work to relate to this feeling of escapism we all tend to have because of our monotonous days and congested cities. The visuals are intended to create a world where coexistence of humans and nature without destruction.

For me, colours are visual characters on their own, they bring my dreamscapes to life. Most of my work begins with adding multiple hues and tones onto the canvas and letting the visuals grow from them. Since the process is quite experimental, there are instances where I have to completely let go of elements that don’t fit the vision. I pick elements such as flowers, stars, galaxies to create compositions where each element is rendered using ombre hues and textures to give them a fantastical quality.

There is a sense of timelessness in these landscapes, where there is no decay or loss rather they capture the delicacy and beauty of nature.
