Pitches are accepted on a rolling basis.
Email your pitch to hello@tasavvurnama.com with the subject line: “Non-Fiction Pitch.”

What We’re Looking For:

We’re interested in work that explores, celebrates, or critically engages with South Asian speculative storytelling traditions. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Critical essays (especially from feminist, queer, or post-colonial perspectives)
  • Deep dives into underrepresented regional speculative traditions
  • Cultural commentary or reflections on storytelling, publishing, or genre through a South Asian lens
  • Translations of traditional or contemporary South Asian spec fic (from any South Asian language into English)

Pitches should be clear, compelling, and around 150–300 words. Let us know your approach, why it matters, and any prior writing samples if available.

We’re looking to understand the concept behind your piece and see whether it’s a good fit for us, so please give us a clear outline that explains the trajectory of your piece, any sources you may reference, and any other relevant information. If you’re familiar with academic work, think of it as submitting an abstract.

If your pitch is accepted, we will commission you to write your complete piece.

Other things to note:

  • Please mention your proposed title, your name, email, and word count of your pitch in your file
  • Please make sure to add your name in the file name, e.g. A Case For Thieves by Ali Baba
  • Please do not submit complete pieces, we only accept pitches for non-fiction.

Payment

We pay a flat rate of $100 for commissioned pieces.

Rights

We ask for:

  • Exclusive electronic rights for 6 months
  • Non-exclusive archival rights for 1 years

All other rights remain with the author.
