The cover art for Tasavvur’s Summer 2022 issue is created by Ruwangi Amarasinghe and is titled Forest Dwellers

In Ruwangi’s own words:

The creatures of the deep do not only lurk in the shadows, waiting to scare you from the corner of your eyes. Sometimes even they need the comfort of a soft fire and friends.

The  world becomes increasingly darker, there are no more bright days. The monsters in the deep, they are the ones that make fear in your mind. Darkness, dread, despair, depression. They are always in the corners lurking waiting to come out.
But in these days of long nights, when the sun has been blacked out with fog and smoke, the monsters emerge. The darkness may be their home, but even they need the comfort of light sometimes. Even they, need the quiet comfort of friendship.

A lot of my work is based on certain feelings and emotions we may have in situations, and I like to evoke that sense of feeling in an image. I’ve always felt an affinity to things beyond reach, like outer space or the supernatural, so thats what I create.
